H#1. Soda
Are you trying to cut soda out of your diet, but you don’t know what to replace it with? You could try Zevia which is soda sweetened with stevia. You can also try kombucha which is a great option when you want something else than water. Live Soda kombucha makes great drinks that tastes like soda. Not only replacing soda with kombucha will help you reduce the amount of sugar you are drinking, but you will get extra health benefits like probiotics.
Of course, replacing soda with another options even healthier doesn’t mean that you should drink it all day. Remember to add more water to your diet and finding some flavored sparkling water that you enjoy will help you kick that soda habit while staying hydrated.
#2. Pasta
Regardless of whether you are eating whole-grains or white pasta it isn’t great if you goal is to lose weight. I am not against carbs, but let’s be honest there is way better ways to get carbs into your diet without eating pasta. We all know by now that you can make spiralized veggies to substitute pasta, but are there other alternatives? You can use some kelp noodles, or even noodles made with konjac flour. I also recently found some pasta made out of green beans. I haven’t tried them yet, but you can check it out here.
#3. Sweet Treats
If your goal is to lose weight or get fit it doesn’t mean that you have to say goodbye to treats. Depriving yourself of sweats isn’t going to help you in the long run as you will end up eating everything in sight. Instead of eating sweats full of junk you can make healthier treats. No, I don’t mean using whole-wheat flour instead of white flour, but using flours like coconut, almond, chestnut, tigernut and so on. There are so many options available that will add more whole-food fats to your dessert while satisfying your sweet tooth. You can find some great recipes on my blog that will help you out.
#4. Sweeteners
Newsflash! Sugar is bad for you. I guess you knew that before, but what can you use instead of sugar then? Xylitol, erythritol, and powder stevia are great options to use in your baking goods instead of sugar. You might even be able to use less of it in in your recipes. Honey, maple syrup, and other liquid sweeteners are still very high in sugar and even if it isn’t as processed as white sugar your body still recognizes them as sugar.
There are other swaps that can be made to help you have a healthier lifestyle. What are some that you did when deciding to improve your lifestyle? Share them in the comments to help other make some changes too.
